FIRST PLEASLEY HILL FAMILY ON WAY TO A NEW HOME
Wednesday 9th December 2009
A young Pleasley Hill family are looking forward to having their lives transformed with the help of Mansfield District Council and a local housing regeneration agency, Meden Valley Making Places (MVMP), which has been appointed by the District Council to drive the regeneration of Pleasley Hill.

Elizabeth Bacon said: “It will be a dream come true to see the improvements take place. Ever since I was a child, we were hoping for redevelopment, and it is wonderful that change is finally being delivered.
“I have seen the area worsen to a terrible state with most of the houses in the road now empty and nowhere for the children to play.”
She added: “Although gas central heating was installed some while ago, our house still gets very cold in winter with no warmth coming from neighbouring homes and we don’t have a ‘combi’ system so the heating is expensive to run.”
MVMP is currently arranging appointments with residents to discuss their re-housing following an extensive public consultation programme organised by MVMP over Mansfield District Council’s proposals for Pleasley Hill, which will include exciting new housing, employment and community facilities.
Councillor Heather Henshaw, Portfolio Holder for Housing at Mansfield District Council, commented: “As a District Council, we are mindful of the needs of our tenants and residents and, with that in mind, we have consulted widely with them with plans for the Pleasley Hill area.
“I am pleased that the redevelopment of the area is now at a stage where we are able to progress and, in doing so, I hope that Elizabeth and her family will be happy and secure in their new home.”
